SAG Awards & The Truth About Diamonds

I have been so busy since I've started school! I was supposed to study tonight because I have 3 tests this week but instead I decided to watch the SAG Awards! My priorities may be a little messed up. Ha ha, oh well. I don't think I have much to worry about anyway, I know most of the material.
So... the SAG Awards! I mostly was bored during it, ha ha. None of the shows I like were nominated or won so it wasn't too interesting for me. I really and truly feel that Bryan Cranston should have won an award! I still get goosebumps when I watch the scene where he says "I am the danger." It's my favourite show! I just think he is so talented.
I have decided I need to watch Boardwalk Empire and Modern Family though. I need to catch up on a lot of shows, actually.
Anyway, I finished reading The Truth About Diamonds last week and LOVED it. I know it wasn't all the complete truth, but I had fun trying to figure out who was supposed to be who. I am a huge fan of Nicole Richie and love how far she has come! There's not much else I can say about the book. It is what it is, really. I read a lot of reviews on it, and most of them were bad, but I don't know what people were expecting! When I started to read it, I knew exactly what it was supposed to be and I thought it was good. I also want to read Nicole's second book, Priceless.

"I guess that's the thing about diamonds - they're the most valuable thing in the world, but what really makes them priceless is the people that give them to you."

School

I started school on January 3, and I was going to make a post about it but I thought I'd give it a couple of weeks so I'd have more to say. I'm doing Office Administration, which is something I wanted to do since I was like 10 and decided I didn't really want to be a carpenter like my Daddy. And yes, I really did believe I wanted to do that. It's so funny thinking back on it now, because I definitely am not interested in cabinet making! Ha ha.
My classes are fairly simple. I hate saying that because I feel like I'm going to jinx myself and fail everything! But they're all "Intro" classes. Introduction to Business, Introduction to Accounting and whatnot. So we haven't really gotten into it yet because this is only the end of Week 2.
Also, our computer classes seem really simple to me too. We're "learning" how to use Word! Which is something I've been using for about 10 years already. But some people in my class aren't familiar with it, so it's beneficial to them.
I think I have an advantage because I've already worked in office environments and have used all these programs and things. That definitely helped me out!
The typing is the hardest part! I was introduced to computers when I was really young, but I never bothered to learn the proper way. I can type super fast, without looking at the keyboard or the screen... but that doesn't matter if you're not doing it "properly". I always knew that with what I was planning on doing with my life that I'd need to learn but I'm a really bad procrastinator, so I'd always say "I'll worry about that later." Ha ha. But I'm learning! And it's getting easier!
The only thing I'm really worried about it my speeches. We have to do 3 speeches, and the last one is our term paper (15 pages needed to be turned into a 5 minute speech!). I'm terrible at public speaking!
I really like my school. I'm going to a different school for night classes, and it's horrible. I've had nothing but a bad experience there. I was originally going to do their Office Admin program but after the experience I've had, when I'm done there for my night classes I'm never looking back.
I was really nervous at first, because I left high school in 2007 and it's been 5 years. I'm only 23 but I thought I'd be the oldest there! Turns out I'm one of the youngest! Goes to show you that it's never too late to go back to school!

Mile 81 By Stephen King

I hadn't planned on even reading Mile 81 today, but I had a very long wait at the dermatologists office after school today (45 minutes in the waiting room, 20 in the office before she even seen me!) and had it on my iPod so I decided to read it. I bought it from Kobo not too long ago, so I figured why not. First full book I read on my Kobo app!

It's about a boy who wants to prove to his older brother and friends that he can be daring. He sneaks into an old restaurant that was shut down and finds some vodka, drinks it and falls asleep. While he's asleep, a muddy car pulls up with no sign of anybody inside of it. Then, we slowly start getting introduced to different people right before the car eats them. In the end, the boy burns it with a magnifying glass and it flies away.

I thought this was a full novel when I started reading it. I got really interested in it, and then it ended! Ha ha. It was definitely a good book, especially if you're a Stephen King fan. I was surprised that it only took me 45 minutes to read so when I got home I looked up how long it was and found out it was actually a novella. I'm also a really fast reader, and I find reading things on an e-reader (or e-reader app) goes a lot faster.

There was an excerpt at the end from King's new novel, 11/22/63 but I haven't read it. I'm really looking forward to it, but I don't own it yet so I didn't want to read anything from it! I can't wait to buy it.

Things I got from Karmaloop :)

Karmaloop is one of my favourite websites to shop from! My boyfriend introduced me to it a while ago, and I just received my second order from them and this is what I got..

The Betseyville Glitterati Tote in Pink. This is a pretty big bag, I got it to use for school because it fits all my books and everything and I don't need to take my purse! It has a matching iPad case you can buy separately, and I plan to get it when I get an iPad.

The Anette VI Shoe in Black. These are gorgeous!!! I have a lot of shoes, and these ones are definitely my new favourite!! I wore them to school yesterday, and was on my feet mostly all day and they were so comfortable to wear!

This was just a last minute thing I decided to add on to my order because it's cute. And it was on sale for half price, or around there I think. Hello Kitty Apples Key Cap!

That's all! If anybody comes across this and orders, use my Karmaloop Rep code! 20% off your first order, and 10% off for orders after that if you use the rep code shizzle

Christmas Gifts!

Here are some gifts I got over Christmas. Actually, some things weren't gifts but things I got for myself over Christmas!

This is probably one of my favourite things. My Nan saw all my decorations on the ledge in my living room so she bought me this to go with them! It's so pretty.

This candle is AMAZING. I have it lit right now. It makes my entire house smell like green apples. The name of it is "Autumn Apples" but it definitely smells like green apples. The brand of it is "Slatkin & Co" I have no idea where to buy it, I think I may have to google it.

A barbie from my Mama! I collect Barbies, and I get one every year for Christmas.

This is a silly one. My Dad bought this thinking it was a table cloth until he opened it! So he gave it to me, ha ha.

Slippers! So cute. My youngest cat was really afraid of these as first! She's used to them now though.

This ornament is from my aunt. She gives me an ornament every year, this one may be my favourite. It's so beautiful!

Candles from another aunt.

Throw blanket

Nintendo 3DS from my boyfriend! I told him not to spend a lot of money on me but he decided to ignore that.

Disney Princess Case for the 3DS and a Princess Peach stylus. Bought this at EB Games.

Games for the 3DS. Harvest Moon, The Tale of Two Towns & MarioKart 7.

Body Lotion from a friend! I LOVE this. I am obsessed with putting lotion on my hands. This smells sooo good.

Boy Meets World Season 1 & 2 from that same friend. One of my favourite shows ever!!

Christmas mugs!

Hello Kitty USB Drive. I needed this for school and found this one at Staples!

New Years Resolutions!

I never really decided on any New Year Resolutions. I always chose to "quit smoking" but now I've been quit for 2 years so I'm not sure on what to have for resolutions now.
I start school tomorrow, and I'm pretty nervous! I also still have to go to night classes to finish up my ABE. Maybe that's one of my resolutions. Finish ABE by April. Going to day classes & night classes is going to be challenging!
Also, I should try to stop procrastinating. I'm really bad for doing that.

Happy New Year!
