Favourite ornaments

I just found these pictures on my camera from when I first took pictures of my house decorated, but I forgot to blog about them! They're just some of my favourite ornaments, I tried to keep them on the front of the tree so they're seen the most!

This one is new, I just bought it from Avon right before Christmas. It's so cute, I love kitties.

This one is also from Avon, it comes in a set of 3 in different colours (white cup/pink frosting & brown cup/red frosting) I think they are the cutest!

This is a Tim Horton's coffee mug I bought last year from Tim's. Love it! I also bought a Timbit Snowman from there this year, but I never got around to taking a picture of it.

I made a blog post about these before. Ornaments made from pepsi cans! Such a cool idea.

This is an ornament that my parents had since I was just a little kid. I took them for myself when I moved out! Ha ha, a lot of them are broken and stuff now but this one has survived throughout the years and I love it because it reminds me of being a kid again.

This is a little mini snow globe thing. It's from some sort of collection, I can't remember what the brand is but I got a few as gifts from it throughout the years.

This one is the same brand as the one above. So cute! Penguin ornaments are always adorable.

An angel. I love how the wings are made of feathers.

I love the Simpsons! I had a roommate a couple of years ago who moved out and left a few things behind, and this was one of them! I loved it so I kept it. (I would have given it back but I never spoke to him after, and I assume he left it there because he didn't want it anyway.)

Another angel that I think is so pretty.

And these are just some ornaments that are messed up or broken but I love them too much to part with! I just took the bottom of a luxe box and hot glued some spanish moss (from this blog post) and set the ornaments in there!

Christmas Day

Today was so hectic! But I was lucky enough to have 2 separate turkey dinners, so it's okay. My kitty babies certainly enjoyed their gifts!

Opie & Samson discovering their gifts!

Merry Christmas!

Hope everybody's having a good Christmas! I'm not, lol. But that's okay.

Santa or Rudolph - Rudolph! He's cute. :)
Stocking or presents - Presents, I suppose.
Egg nog or hot cider - I've actually never had either. Crazy, I know!
Angel or star- Angel.
Decorating the tree or putting lights outside - The tree! I never got to decorate it when I was a kid, so now that I own my own place I love it!
Warm cozy fires or sleigh rides - Fires! I'd loove to have a fireplace.
Family time or friend time - Both, especially if I don't get to see them too much.
Expensive presents or from the heart - Presents from the heart, always. ♥
Snowball fight or snowmen - I've never made a snowman either! People always think I'm crazy for that!
Coal or presents - Presents obviously! Who wants coal?
Caroling or Christmas stories - Stories.
Snowy days or ice days - Ummm... summer? Haha.. just kidding. I'd rather summer, but I love snow during Christmas. So snowy.
Red or green - Red.

Merry Christmas!

Project 17 by Laurie Faria Stolarz

It actually took me about 6 hours to get through this book. It was a very easy book to read through. I wasn’t going to read it yet, but I decided since my boyfriend was in the hospital it would be fun to read because it’s a book about teenagers who break into Danvers State Hospital to film a movie.

I liked it, but it seemed like I was a bit old for it, ha ha. I did enjoy reading it, but it seemed like it was directed more too pre-teens. I don’t know if it actually was, but that’s how I felt about it. Publishers Weekly called it, “…Breakfast Club meets Blair Witch Project” and I think that just about sums it up.
The reason I even wanted to read the book is because Session 9 is one of my favourite movies ever and both this book and that movie are about Danvers State Hospital. It’s rumoured to have been the birthplace of the lobotomy. Creepy, right?

The beginning was a little lame, but the middle of it got scary, and the end was not the best. I really wanted to find out more about the patient/ghost that was mainly in the book, and also the girl Mimi’s grandmother who was a patient there. I feel like the author could have went into a deeper story line, but if I’m right about it being more of a “pre-teen” book than the author did a really good job. I wouldn’t really recommend it to anybody, unless they’re interested in reading things about Danvers State Hospital like me!

The next book I’m reading is The Truth About Diamonds by Nicole Richie. I am a huge fan of her, so I hope it’s good! I’m also in the middle of reading Under the Dome by Stephen King, but it’s going really slow because the book is huge and I can’t take it out anywhere. I don’t do much reading at home, usually in doctor’s offices and places like that so it’s sort of hard for me to find time to read it here. I thought I’d mention it anyway!

Thanks for reading. J

Dexter is Delicious by Jeff Lindsay

Warning: This may contain spoilers of not only the Dexter books by Jeff Lindsay, but also all the seasons of Dexter the tv show!

My boyfriend was in the hospital for a couple of days, but we spent a whole week going back and forth there and I managed to read 2 books during that time! I won't go into detail about him, but he's okay now. :)
The first book I finished was Dexter is Delicious. It was hard reading that while also watching the new season at the same time, I kept getting the story lines mixed up!
It was good, I love all the Dexter books. It was nice to read about Rita still being alive, and Doakes always cracks me up. I still wish that the tv show would have went along with the first book and killed LaGuerta instead of Doakes! Although, if they did I'd probably be annoyed with Doakes as much as I am with LaGuerta.

I really liked all the minor similarities between the show and book. In the book, Dexter's daughter Lily Anne is born and he decides he doesn't really want to kill any more. In the show, religion comes up and Brother Sam tries to show Dexter that he doesn't have to kill.
Another minor similarity is with Debs. In the show, she's going through a hard time and ends up seeing a therapist. In the book, I don't think she was seeing a therapist but she was having a hard time and talking to Dexter about it because her "biological clock" is ticking.
My favourite part of the books is Deborah knowing about Dexter! I keep thinking the show is going to go with that story. This season especially, I felt like it kept throwing out hints that she was about to find out. I haven't seen the finale yet, I'm about to watch it as soon as I'm done typing this!

I definitely recommend reading all the Dexter books! I don't really have much else to say about it, It was a good book and there's nothing I want to complain about  like my last review (read here), ha ha! I found it strange that Brian is in it and he saves Debs and Dexter at the end, I really thought he was going to be up to something bad. I don't know what's going to happen if  Debs finds out, since he did try to kill her.

The first chapter of the next book, Double Dexter, was at the end but I decided not to read it right now. I was going to, but I was really tired and I'm not going to buy the next book until it comes out in paperback. I like the look of hard cover books, but they're usually a lot more expensive and I like to carry my books around in my purse so I can read them in places such as the hospital, where I read this one ha ha. Plus, the rest of my Dexter collection is in paperback so I don't want to start getting hard covers now!

Thanks for reading!

Tomorrow or the next day I'll be writing about the second book I finished in the hospital, Project 17 by Laurie Faria Stolarz.

Christmas Decorations! (Lots of Pictures)

Lights off

 Lights on

Just some stuff I have on the ledge in my living room.

I made these last year with some extra decorations that wouldn't fit on my tree.

Love my new nutcracker! My Mom bought me this last month after I told her I wanted one really bad, lol.

My living room. Please ignore my ugly futon, I desperately need a new couch!

With the lights off.

From my couch.

Just some Christmas teddys in the corner!

Top of my bookshelf.

Shelves.

My kitty hiding under the tree :) It's both of my cats favourite place!

Table area. We live in a kind of small apartment, so there's not much room for a tree and stuff.

Table.

With the lights off!

Shelf on the wall next to my table.

The thing next to the shelf is something I made to hold Christmas Cards. I got the idea from another blog, but I seem to have lost the link.

Hope you enjoyed!

Chapters "Haul"

I titled this Chapers "Haul", but it's not really much of a haul! I only got 3 books. It was unplanned, but it was Black Friday and they had online deals and I also got extra cash back from Ebates. Anyway, I thought I would share them!

I've never even heard of this book before, but I saw it on their website and it looked interesting so I bought it!

This book I've been wanting for a while. I wanted to get Disco Bloodbath first, but for some reason I never. I don't really know why. Maybe I just came across this one first.

The Rum Diary! This book means so much to me. I couldn't wait for them to make the movie, but I haven't seen it yet. I don't want to go into detail about why it means a lot to me, but something terrible happened to me while I was reading this the first time. I lived with one of my boyfriends friends and it was his book so that's why I didn't own it before now. I wish I had to buy it before, because I really don't like when books have "Soon to be a major motion picture" on it. But oh well, it's an amazing book & I love it.

DIY Magazine Holders

I don't actually know what these things are called, I just know I didn't really want to spend 15 dollars on one. So I had family sized boxes of cereal and I cut them out, painted them with acrylic paint and glued a pretty piece of scrapbook paper to one side and put mod podge all over it. I think it turned out pretty good. It wasn't sturdy enough so I cooked fajitas one night and took the box from that and cut it to fit inside the box, painted it with the same paint and glued it to the inside.

I don't have pictures of the cereal box because I didn't think about blogging about it when I was making it. I actually didn't decide to put the extra cardboard inside of it until about 2 months later.

This is the inside of it after. The cardboard doesn't fit inside perfectly, but it serves its purpose.

I got everything I used at Michaels. Well, except for the cereal box haha. I used Craft Smart paint in the colour espresso and just a piece of scrapbook paper from Michaels. I'm pretty pleased with it! I also made another one, same colour but a different picture. I may make more. I have a lot of magazines and books and things! Just have to wait to be finished my next box of cereal. :)

Downtown Christmas Parade

Our annual Christmas Parade was on Sunday, November 27th. I'm not going to say much about it because it was the worst one I've been to in the 23 years I've been attending. It was slower than ever, and I was outside for 2 hours before it even started. At one point there was a truck that was part of the parade stopped in front of me for 10 minutes. It wasn't even a good part of the parade, it was just a search and rescue van. I didn't even stay for the full thing because I was too cold and annoyed for being there for so long. I'm gonna upload some pictures of the things I did like, and a video of my favourite float!

This is from the movie "Up!" It's one of my favourite movies! The old man is so cute. And the dog reminded me of my Mom's dog.

We were standing by a building, and all of a sudden a bunch of firemen came out from behind it! It was so weird. They said there was an alarm going off inside of the building so they were checking to see if anybody had broken in.

The Shriners is always my favourite part of the parade. I was upset I couldn't stay to see the whole thing, but I seen these guys so it was okay.

I have no idea what these guys were all about, but there were a bunch of Grinches & Things!

Again, no idea what was on the go here. I just know that the car was dressed up as a baby carriage.

This was awesome! I still don't know who owned the float though. I'm gonna have to look it up!
